Victor Borge (Jan. 3, 1909 — Dec. 23, 2000) was a highly popular “comedic pianist” who enjoyed a long show business career in America and Europe. Earlier, he barely escaped the Nazis by fleeing his native Denmark. Borge’s unique blend of gentle humor and brilliant musicianship won him the monikers “The Clown Prince of Denmark,” “The Unmelancholy Dane,” and “The Great Dane.”
Quotes: “Humor is something that thrives between man’s aspirations and his limitations. There is more logic in humor than in anything else. Because, you see, humor is truth.” | “If I have caused just one person to wipe away a tear of laughter, that’s my reward.” | “Laughter is the closest distance between two people.”
