Stephen Wolfram, 59, is a British-American mathematician, computer scientist, physicist and visionary businessman. In 1981, Wolfram received the prestigious MacArthur Genius Fellowship Award. He’s the founder and CEO of the software company Wolfram Research, where he served as chief designer of the computer algebra system Mathematica (now called the Wolfram Language). In 2002, the company published a best-selling book written by Wolfram and titled A New Kind of Science , which proposed nothing less than a different way to view the universe.
