Stephen Sondheim, who just turned 90, is a giant of the American musical theater. His well-known works include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1962), Company (1970), Follies (1971), A Little Night Music (1973), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1979), Sunday in the Park with George (1984), and Into the Woods (1987). In addition, he wrote the lyrics for West Side Story (1957) and Gypsy (1959).
Quote: “Bit by bit, putting it together… Piece by piece, only way to make a work of art. Every moment makes a contribution, Every little detail plays a part. Having just the vision’s no solution, Everything depends on execution, Putting it together, that’s what counts.”
