Associate Justice Stephen Breyer has been a member of the U.S. Supreme Court since 1994. Prior to that, he was a professor at Harvard Law School. In addition, Breyer was special assistant to the United States Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust, and assistant special prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force. From 1980 to 1994, he was a judge on the First Circuit Court of Appeals (and chief judge from 1990 to 1994). Now 81, Breyer is generally considered to be a liberal member of the high court.
