Sidney Walton is a centenarian veteran of the Second World War who, accompanied by his son Paul, began a “No Regrets” tour around the U.S. two years ago. His goal is to meet the President and the governors of all 50 states. Part of the motivation: When Walton was young, he missed an opportunity to meet surviving Civil War veterans — something he has always regretted. Also, with the number of World War II veterans dwindling by the day, he wants to increase awareness of the ageing American warriors who once helped save the world from fascism.
Quote: “I joined the Army to fight Hitler. I hated that man so much. I’d give anything to fight
him.” — Sidney Walton | “We’re carrying the message of how few World War II veterans there are left. We wanted to give everyone an opportunity to meet one before it’s too late.” — Paul Walton, Sidney’s son.
