Journalist Ruth Marcus is a political commentator who writes a weekly op-ed column for The Washington Post. In March 2007, Marcus was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. She is also the Deputy Editorial Page Editor for the newspaper. Unusual among journalists, she is a law school graduate (Harvard) — although she opted to continue with a career in journalism versus practicing law. Ideologically and politically, she identifies as a liberal and is registered as an Independent.
