Rabbi Dr. Arthur Waskow (87 or 88) has been arrested more than 25 times while participating in nonviolent demonstrations on behalf of a range of social causes. He is the founder and director of The Shalom Center, which “equips activists and spiritual leaders with awareness and skills needed to lead in shaping a transformed and transformative Judaism that can help create a world of peace, justice, healing for the earth, and respect for the interconnectedness of all life.” In addition, he is a leader of the Jewish Renewal movement.
Quote: “Whatever the moment that calls out to you in your own journey, marking it with awareness and joy can enrich your own life and that of your community. A series of such moments, if you can see them as jewels strung on the spiral of your life, can become the education of a Mensch.”
