Noah R. Feldman, 49, is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. One focus of his work is the relationship between law, politics, and religion — including the First Amendment’s bearing on church-and-state issues. He’s also an expert on issues related to Islam. In 2019, Feldman testified before the House Intelligence Committee in the Donald J. Trump impeachment investigation.
Quotes: “Every generation gets the Constitution that it deserves. As the central preoccupations of an era make their way into the legal system, the Supreme Court eventually weighs in, and nine lawyers in robes become oracles of our national identity.” | “The yeshiva where I studied considers itself modern Orthodox, not ultra-Orthodox. We followed a rigorous secular curriculum alongside traditional Talmud and Bible study.”
