Since 1988, Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) has represented the U.S. Congressional district that includes the northern suburbs of New York City and most of Westchester County. She is the ranking Democratic member of the House Appropriations Committee and a member of several Congressional subcommittees. The now 80 year old served as the first female chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (2001—2002).
