Nikki Fried: Will This Democrat Unseat Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis?

Nicole (“Nikki”) Fried , 44, is the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture. She’s the first woman to be elected to the position and was the only Democrat to win a statewide race in Florida in the 2018 elections. Fried has declared her candidacy for governor of Florida in the 2022 gubernatorial election. She will be facing Charlie Crist, a U.S. representative and the former governor of Florida, in the Democratic primary. If Fried wins the primary, she’ll likely face incumbent Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
