Whatever one thinks of Michael Bloomberg as a politician, mayor, or presidential candidate, two things are beyond dispute: He has been phenomenally successful in business and he’s been an extremely generous philanthropist. The 79-year-old former mayor of New York City has built a worldwide, recognized, and respected brand that includes a TV cable channel, a radio network, a news service, a magazine, and more. To his credit, Bloomberg — who reportedly has $59 billion — has donated enormous amounts of money to support causes he believes in.
Quote: “The politics of partisanship and the resulting inaction and excuses have paralyzed decision-making, primarily at the federal level, and the big issues of the day are not being addressed, leaving our future in jeopardy.” | “We may not always agree with every one of our neighbors. That’s life. And it’s part of living in such a diverse and dense city. But we also recognize that part of being a New Yorker is living with your neighbors in mutual respect and tolerance. It was exactly that spirit of openness and acceptance that was attacked on 9/11, 2001.”
