To say that Lorne Michaels has had an enormous impact on American popular culture would be an enormous understatement. The 74-year-old Michaels is best known for creating and producing the iconic comedy variety show Saturday Night Live, which has been on the air (with slight name changes) for an astonishing 44 years. But he also has many other show biz credits under his belt, including Late Night, The Kids in the Hall, and The Tonight Show, to name just a few.
Quote: “The only show I ever really wanted to do was SNL. It was some sort of merging of my talent and my metabolism. It suited who I am and what I do really well, though whatever I was thinking it was, it kept mutating and growing. At first, I didn’t even know that the cast would be the thing everybody talked about. We thought it would be the hosts.”
