If the name Regeneron rings a bell, it’s probably because it was the antibody drug “cocktail” that President Donald Trump received following his COVID-19 diagnosis. It is also the name of the company that developed the experimental treatment. Regeneron, the corporation, was co-founded in 1988 by Drs. Leonard Schleifer and George D. Yancopoulos. Regeneron has since grown into one of the world’s premier biotechnology companies.
Quote: “The whole concept of antibody therapy is nothing more than trying to imitate what the immune system does. If you think about it, what happens? You get infected with a virus and your adaptive immune system gets into high gear. What is it trying to do? It’s trying to generate weapons to fight this virus. We’re trying to give the body a little bit of an edge.”
