Judy Chicago (81) is a pioneering feminist artist whose most well-known works include The Dinner Party, International Honor Quilt, The Birth Project, Powerplay, and The Holocaust Project. During the 1970s, she founded the first feminist art program in the United States at California State University Fresno (formerly Fresno State College) and acted as a catalyst for feminist art and art education. Time magazine included Chicago in its “100 Most Influential People of 2018.”
Quote: “Even if I am simply one more woman laying one more brick in the foundation of a new and more humane world, it is enough to make me rise eagerly from my bed each morning and face the challenge of breaking the historic silence that has held women captive for so long.”
