Josh Shapiro, 49, is an American politician and attorney who has served as the 48th governor of Pennsylvania since early 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 50th Pennsylvania attorney general from 2017 to 2023. He faced extreme right-wing Republican nominee Doug Mastriano in the general election for the governorship. Shapiro ran on a platform of protecting voting rights, abortion rights, and raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. He won the general election by a 14.8% margin.
