Jim Dine, 83, is a pioneering and highly esteemed American pop artist. In 1962, Dine’s art, which features many images of hearts, was included in a groundbreaking exhibit at the Norman Simon Museum in Los Angeles — one of the first pop art exhibitions in America. His works are exhibited in the permanent collections of many museums, including: the British Museum, London; the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Quote: “I have come to terms with a lot of things, because, when all’s said and done, there’s really very little one can do about a lot of things. You just accept them. The point is you just have to keep on working and you just have to keep on living.”
