On October 18, 2019, NASA astronaut Jessica Meir, a marine biologist and physiologist, took part in a trailblazing spacewalk outside the International Space Station. Meir and fellow astronaut Cristina Koch formed the first all-female spacewalking team. Now Meir, 44, has become part of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans — including possibly a woman — to the Moon by 2025.
Quote: “Here we are up in Caribou [Maine], which is my home as well as yours, but when you think about your home, you usually think about your house, your neighborhood, and your family, and when you look at this fragile blue ball from outer space, that’s home too. It’s everybody’s home.”
