Jerry Stiller (June 8, 1927 — May 11, 2020) and Anne Meara, his wife of more than 60 years, were a popular sketch comedy team in the 1960s. In his later years, Stiller played the iconic Frank Costanza on the sitcom Seinfeld; he was the father of George Costanza, played by Jason Alexander. After Seinfeld finished its hugely successful run, Stiller played Arthur Spooner on the CBS comedy series The King of Queens. Stiller was the father of actors Ben Stiller and Amy Stiller.
Quotes: “I took her [wife Anne Meara] out for coffee. She seemed to sense I had no money, so she just ordered coffee. Then she took all the silverware. I picked up her check for 10 cents and thought, ‘This is a girl I’d like to hang out with.’ ” | “That’s one of the reasons I think the show [Seinfeld] was so successful… that we weren’t thinking of our next line, we were just listening to each other and we liked each other in a very big way. We just made each other laugh.”
