Since 2011, Jeremy England has been an assistant professor at M.I.T.’s Physics Department. He is widely known for his hypothesis about the spontaneous emergence of life (which he calls “dissipation-driven adaptation”). One Pulitzer-prize winning science historian said “[England] could be the next Darwin.” Although England’s mother was Jewish (and the daughter of Polish Holocaust survivors), his father was a non-practicing Lutheran. England was raised Jewish and studied Judaism in greater depth while he was a graduate student at Oxford. He now is a practicing Orthodox Jew. Source: Wikipedia

Appearing on the WGBH nightly TV program Greater Boston, England briefly explained his developing theory about the origin of life. Despite the program host’s asking England to simplify his comments for a public audience, what he said was pretty heavy going. Good luck! >>
