Through its Roim Rachok (“See Far”) program, the Israel Defense Forces is enlisting soldiers who are autistic and assigning them to important roles that use their special talents. These individuals have an extraordinary ability to focus for long periods, catch changes in tiny details and discern overall patterns; thus, they’re especially well-suited to interpreting satellite intelligence photographs, a task vital for Israel’s security.
