Eric Sanders (Jewish father, non-Jewish mother), 56, is fortunate to have two passions: art and philanthropy. Since he sold his successful manufacturing company five years ago, he’s devoted much of his life to painting abstract art. For the past 15 years, he has pursued his philanthropic interests. All the money he earns from selling his artwork goes to supporting a variety of worthy causes. To that end, he set up the Sanders Family Foundation, a nonprofit charity “that focuses on fostering sustainable change in developing countries.”
Quote: “I was just going to paint as a hobby and for fun, but I have a real passion for philanthropy. A friend of mine who is an interior designer kept encouraging me to sell my artwork. I told him I’m just doing it for fun. Then he suggested I use the proceeds I get from my paintings for philanthropy. I thought, That’s a really cool idea!”
