Ellen Weintraub is chairperson of the Federal Election Commission, the independent agency charged with enforcing campaign finance laws in America’s federal elections.
Weintraub has been outspoken in challenging President Donald Trump’s assertion — made without evidence — that serious voter fraud took place in New Hampshire during the 2016 Presidential election, and that the fraud was why he did not win the state. She’s called on the President to produce evidence, if any exists.
Trump, for his part, has extended his claim to the entire nation, to explain why he lost the popular tally by some 3,000,000 votes.
In addition, Weintraub has pushed for increased transparency for online political ads.
Quote: “Let me make something 100% clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election. This is not a novel concept. ”
