Although Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg receives an enormous amount of adulation and media attention — understandably so — there is another Jewish woman on the U.S. Supreme Court, and she should not be overlooked. Elena Kagan is the second Jewish woman to serve on the court, after Justice Ginsberg. She was nominated to the high court in May 2010 by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate some three months later. Prior to that, she was the dean of Harvard Law School and the first female U.S. Solicitor General — among other notable accomplishments.
Quote: “I’ve led a school whose faculty and students examine and discuss and debate every aspect of our law and legal system. And what I’ve learned most is that no one has a monopoly on truth or wisdom. I’ve learned that we make progress by listening to each other, across every apparent political or ideological divide.” BrainyQuote

One interesting episode in Justice Kagan’s life was when she and her family’s Orthodox rabbi at the time were at loggerheads over her upcoming bat mitzvah. Read about it on Wikipedia.
