David Litt was a speechwriter for President Barack Obama; he specialized in writing funny lines to be delivered by the president. (He began working in the White House at the age of 24.) His first book, comedic memoir Thanks, Obama: My Hopey, Changey White House Years, was a New York Times bestseller. His new book, Democracy in One Book or Less, is scheduled to be released shortly. Currently, Litt is head writer/producer at the office of Funny or Die in the nation’s capital.
Quote: “Real love is about fighting for something long after its flaws are laid bare. It’s about caring so deeply, you have no choice but to place another’s well-being above your own. Love is not a feeling. It transcends feelings. Love is what allows us to be disillusioned and to somehow still believe.” — David Litt, Thanks, Obama: My Hopey, Changey White House Years
