In 2020, Daniella Levine Cava (65) was elected mayor of Miami-Dade County, Florida. Previously, she served as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner since 2014. An attorney and social worker, Levine Cava has garnered numerous awards for her nonprofit work. She received the Most Distinguished Pioneer Award from the National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and the Youth. She also received the Joanne Hayes Democracy and Mentoring Award from the League of Women Voters.
