You may be surprised to know there’s an indigenous professional wrestling circuit in Israel. Even more surprising: Pro wrestling in the Jewish state was largely popularized by Rabbi Rafael Halperin (the “Rasslin Rabbi”), a Vienna-born haredi Israeli who made a name for himself wrestling in the U.S. in the 1950s. Now two Israeli wrestlers — Ori Gold and Hadar Horwitz, who grapple under the tag team name Better Together –- are setting their sights on pro wrestling success in America.
Quote: “We flew to the US to become better and try to really make it in the pro wrestling business,” [Ori] Gold said. “We’re training with talent from all of the big companies, including Impact Wrestling, WWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW). We’re working on our craft and doing as many shows as we can.”
