Anne Frank (June 12, 1929 – February or March 1945) was a German-born Dutch teenager who perished in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp just six months before the end of World War II. She is known for the diary she kept during the two years she — along with her parents, sister, and others — hid in an Amsterdam house.
The diary, which miraculously survived her discovery and arrest by the Nazis, has inspired millions around the world — both for her talent as a young writer and the depth of her humanity and optimism, even while in the most horrific of circumstances. It has been translated into 70 languages.
Quotes: “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” | “I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.” | “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” | “Where there’s hope, there’s life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again.” — The Diary of Anne Frank
