Andy Goldfarb, co-founder and Executive Managing Director of venture capital company Globespan Capital Partners, had always been a driven human being obsessed with “success.” Then came a series of setbacks: marriage fell apart, business issues, and most of all, a serious physical injury that left him bedridden, in pain, and unable to do anything. The challenges he faced were life-changing and in a way a blessing. All is explained in the Ted Talk linked below.
Quote: “For each and every one of you, I need you to do something. And that something is nothing. I need each of you — whether it’s today, tomorrow, or sometime this week — to take five or ten minutes, to free yourself of expectations and judgments, and just do nothing. I believe that you will find yourself in a state of blessed boredom. And I firmly believe that to live a life full of meaning, you have to learn to do nothing.”
