Allan Lichtman, 70, doesn’t have a crystal ball, but he has something even better: a predictive system called The Keys to the White House, which he created with Russian seismologist Vladimir Keilis-Borok. The system seems to be working: Lichtman has correctly predicted the winner of every U.S. presidential election since 1984, with the exception of the 2000 Gore-Bush contest. (Whether he really predicted the outcome of the 2016 vote is a matter of some controversy.) Lichtman is an American political historian who teaches at American University in the nation’s capital.
