Israel may be a tiny country geographically, but it’s a giant in information technology, science, medicine, agriculture, water treatment and water conservation. The country’s untold number of advancements in these and other fields have benefitted not only Israel itself but also humanity as a whole. In an end-of-year roundup for 2017, the website Israel21 lists Israeli breakthroughs in medicine and wellbeing, such as pioneering bone implants; a revolutionary cornea implant; simplified hernia-repair techniques; an early diagnostic test for Parkinson’s disease; a way to easily screen newborns for autism; a new technique for diagnosing sleep disorders — plus seven more. And that’s just in one year!
